Purim Carnival
March 5 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The BC Jewish Community is planning a Purim Carnival for Sunday, March 5th at 2:00 in the afternoon at the BC Clubhouse. Children should come in their favorite costumes, often of Queen Esther, her King or wicked Haman. And adults are encouraged to dress in costume, too! If it’s warm enough, we’ll have our Costume Parade on the lawn.
We have a Craft planned for the kids and, of course, we’ll have Hamantashen! Come join us and listen to the story of the smart, beautiful and secretly-Jewish Queen Esther, her husband King Ahashverosh and the evil advisor, Haman. While it’s traditional to read the whole Megillah, or Book of Esther (yes, that’s where that idiom comes from) we’ll hear the abbreviated version of this happy and joyous story. It’s a fun-filled festival for the whole family.
The BCJC’s Purim Carnival is open to all residents of BC and their families. While there will be no admission fee for the festival,
one of the traditions of Purim is the giving of Tzedakah or gifts of charity for those not as well off as we are.
So, we’re asking each family to bring packaged food items to be donated to the CORA Food Pantry in Pittsboro.
Please join us as we celebrate the wonderful Holiday of Purim!
